Day 1: Temper vs Being Loving & Caring

Scriptures:
Proverbs‬ ‭29:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭NLT

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Ephesians‬ ‭4:26‬ ‭NKJV

‭‭‬‬ ““Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,”

Matthew‬ ‭5:37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”

Ever feel like people are a problem or an inconvenience? Or that there’s something wrong with everyone (except you lol)? Well the truth is, dealing with people is challenging! Dealing with yourself can prove to be a complex journey!

I, personally, cannot relate to having a temper issue, and I am also not one who is a pro or experienced in studying human psychology. However, with my limited knowledge and experience, I know that having a bad temper is usually associated with unresolved or underlying anger or issues.

Being angry is not a sin, nor is it wrong. There are and will be many instances that warrant anger. However, God’s standard is for us to not allow anger to cause us to sin. Furthermore, anger should not be ignored yet, should not be treasured (holding onto it for dear life).

Dealing with things assertively or being firm by not letting people manipulate or take advantage of you is necessary. God says our no’s must be no’s and our yes’s be a yes. However, God’s standard is for us to show mercy to people and forgive people in the same way we’ve been shown mercy and receive forgiveness.

Forgiving people, being merciful, loving and caring for people doesn’t mean that people are perfect, or that they will change and become who you wish they were. It also doesn’t mean that your anger is not justified.

It does, however, mean that peace will rule your heart and mind, it does mean healthier and more fulfilling relationships and receiving love and forgiveness in return. It also means that people will see how a perfect God can love an imperfect and undeserving person.

““You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew‬ ‭5:43-48‬ ‭NLT

‭‭‬‬

How did Anna go from having a temper to being loving and caring?

Practical tips from Anna:

I personally didn’t even know I had to begin with! Because this was a side of me that was always praised since I was child, example, my parents will say things like (my daughter doesn’t take nonsense from anybody). Or my aunt always cheering me on when I lose my temper. The only time I was told off about my temper was when, I said some pretty harsh words to my friend, I was around the age of 7, and my aunt told me to never utter such words again, that our tongue has power and what we say means a lot!

  • So I’d say, the first step is: to acknowledge that you have a temper problem. Instead of glorifying in it.
  • 2nd step is: to find ways to deal with it! So ask yourself what are your triggers or who are your triggers! And find out if you can separate yourself from these triggers, if not find a healthy way to deal with it!
  • 3rd step: think and double think, even when in anger before you act!
  • Best step for me: was bringing to God! I thought this was too much of a small problem for God to listen to. But he did! So I researched verses to deal with temper or anger, then went to the Lord in prayer and bought before him what change I need.

But faith without works is dead… so you must also practice the verses from the Bible, you practice the healthy ways you found ( that works for you) to help with temper and anger.

Remember when we accept God fully, it’s not possible we stay the same! But you have to want and accept that transformation!

I accepted the transformation! And I didn’t even notice when I started changing! But it was part of the Godly transformation! And because I really wanted it and open to the change! I didn’t have difficulties.

Prayer by Anna:

Father Lord in the name of Jesus, we do not come in our power, but we come in the name of Jesus! Father I ask you to take control of lives and whatever situation we have on a daily basis! Because we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we walk according to His teachings and commandments! Anger and temper has no power over us! Has no power over our lives!

Lord we ask ask you to forgive us of our sins, sins we have committed consciously or unconsciously! Sins we have committed out of anger. Lord forgive us! Father thank you for forgiving us of our sins. Help us to change into better people!

Remove the spirit of anger and temper away from our lives, help us to not act out of anger! Or rely on our temper to solve issues! Make us into better people .

Change us oh Lord! Transform us oh Lord! Let our lives be testimonies and let our lives glorify the name of Jesus! In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen and amen!
