Day 2 – TRUST
Scriptures:
Matthew 4:1
4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
John 16:33
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
1 John 4:16
16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
So here’s the thing, we have an enemy, that serpent that targeted us humans in the Garden of Eden way back when. So naturally, you can imagine that he doesn’t like it when we make decisions in favour of life.
When you start your walk with God, you may be taken off-guard by sudden challenges that may arise. You may even be tempted to leave the faith because life B.C was seemingly better. That is exactly what the enemy wants. Hold on! I promise God will get you through to the other side, and He’ll make it good.
You can trust that God loves you! He does not delight in seeing you going through a wilderness, but He will make it worthwhile. You can rely on His love, that out of the abundance of His love for you, He will cover you and not allow the enemy to destroy you.
He gives us tools to get through difficult seasons: the Word of God and the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
Practical tips:
When in an uncomfortable season or when going through a trial or tribulation:
- Speak to God about it (i.e. pray) – be honest with God
- Let God speak to you about it too (the how depends on how God speaks to you, but the Word is a good place to start) – find relevant scriptures and meditate on them
- Speak/confess God’s report, NOT what you see
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, it is so hard to discern Your Presence during difficult seasons, and it is so easy to act out of character when one is pressured. Please help me to maintain the character of Jesus that You are developing in me through the power of the Holy Spirit in me. I know each season passes, but may it pass with me being closer to You and knowing You more. Let Your love anchor me for my hope is in You and it will not be disappointed! I trust in You, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
