Day 7: Boldness
Scriptures:
Acts 4:31
31 After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
Hebrews 4:16
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
2 Corinthians 3:12
12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold.
Jeremiah 17:7
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
To make a decision in favour of Christ, Who is Life (John 14:6), takes courage. Boldness is defined as the opposite of fear, the willingness to take risks.
I have come to the understanding that faith is a risk. How do you have certainty of anything? Because of Jesus and because of our faith in Him.
My journey, I think even before Christ was plagued by fear. I remember there was a guy in my neighbourhood that I was just afraid of. Whenever he would come around to see my brothers, I would run away and hide in the furthest part of the house, being my parents’ shower. I literally would sit there paralyzed, hardly breathing. I would sit there for hours, until I was sure he was gone. Why? Honestly, only God knows!
Fear will rob you of your freedom and peace. Both being gifts received from God through Christ. It also robs you from experiencing the very best of God, because God can only work in line of what we’re willing to allow Him to.
So where does boldness come from? The Holy Spirit inside of you.
I am still on the journey of fully overcoming fear. God has been very patient with me, and as He reveals His love for me, fear continues to melt off (1 John 4:18).
You will need boldness to first make the decision to give your life to a God you have never seen, then to say no to some things you used to say yes to, to inform the people in your life about this decision (because it will change your entire life); as well as, to be able to follow God’s path for your life.
21 Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. 1 John 3:21
Practical tips in order to increase your boldness:
- Receive and believe that you have been fully forgiven
- Appropriate God’s heart towards you
- Meditate on the power of God (to increase your confidence in Him)
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for the constant open door I have to Your throne room. Thank You that I can enter Your Presence boldly and I will leave with exactly what I need. I will now live my life with boldness because of my growing confidence in You. You will not fail me, because You love me. I trust You and I love You too Father. I have prayed in the name of Jesus, amen.
